Destination Wedding Officiant | Justin and Jacqueline’s Boise Wedding

June 21, 2018 by revjeri

Usually “destination wedding” means the soon-to-be-married couple is traveling to a destination for their nuptials. But in this case, I was the one doing the traveling as I headed to Boise, Idaho to perform Justin and Jacqueline’s wedding! Just call me the Destination Wedding Officiant!

Jacqueline and I have a family connection, and I was delighted when she and Justin asked me to officiate at their wedding!

Although we are connected through Facebook, I wanted to meet with them in person to go over their ceremony wishes. Fortunately, I needed to visit Boise in March and we were able to sit down together and go over the details.

Plus, it gave me an opportunity to see their sweet-and-fun personalities as they talked about their ceremony wishes and told me about their fur children: Luka, a 10-year-old Husky and Maggie, a 3-year-old dachshund! (And it became obvious that I needed to include them in ceremony!)

Justin and Jacqueline chose Sandstone Vineyards in Kuna for their wedding celebration.

Located 18 miles from Boise, Sandstone is a wedding and event venue / bed and breakfast and also a grape grower specializing in wine grapes for the home winemaker.

After a successful rehearsal in the grassy ceremony area, we enjoyed a fun barbecue dinner in the reception area near the pool.

Justin had had a secret crush on Jacqueline for years and he was thrilled to learn that she was single. (And she was flattered by his interest). However, they were each too shy to initiate a connection. So their mutual friends (April and Chris) had to help them connect by inviting them to activities where they could interact.

Jacqueline eventually asked Chris to give her Justin’s phone number. She sent him a text message, and they chatted for a few days. And finally Justin asked Jacqueline out!

I asked them to tell me some of the things they admire about each other. Justin describes Jacqueline as “beautiful and inspiring,” and he admires her kindness, her work ethic, her sense of humor and her love of dogs, and he says she brings out his better side.

Jacqueline spoke of many things. Justin is a thoughtful listener, he gives good advice, he is willing to try new things, and he deeply loves and cares for Luka and Maggie. Justin always strives to make Jacqueline happy, showing his love in many ways every day. He makes her laugh – a lot! – and he brings great joy into her life.

Although they weren’t able to be present at the wedding, Luka and Maggie were included in the festivities in many ways:

the tables numbers included photos of Luka and Maggie, and during the ceremony there was a special reading  – “Falling in Love is Like Owning a Dog” by Taylor Mali – in their honor.

A Dog’s Perspective of Love

Justin and Jacqueline, your four-legged best friends, Luka and Maggie, are very happy for you today, and they have asked me to share a dog’s perspective of love.

First of all, it’s a big responsibility, so think long and hard before deciding on love.

On the other hand, love gives you a sense of security: When you’re walking down the street late at night and you have a leash on love ain’t no one going to mess with you. . . .

But most of all, love needs love, lots of it.

And in return, love loves you and never stops.

(By the way, Luka and Maggie are sad that they weren’t invited to the wedding and they hope you’ll give them extra treats when you get home because they’re Good Dogs.)

That smile rarely left Jacqueline’s face, and Justin looked proud and happy the entire evening!
